🌍 About the Role
The Programme Assistant will support WHO’s implementation of the Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) component of the Health Sector Transformation Project (HSTP), managed by the World Bank’s Multi-Donor Trust Fund. The project focuses on enhancing efficiency, reducing transactional costs, and improving healthcare systems and services in alignment with South Sudan’s Health Sector Strategic Plan (2023–2027).

📝 Key Responsibilities
As a Programme Assistant, your work will be integral to the success of WHO’s mission. Your key duties include:
- Reviewing financial and administrative documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Managing program budgets, funds, and obligations in WHO’s Global Management System (GSM).
- Drafting correspondence, reports, and coordinating activities.
- Monitoring contract renewals and extensions, ensuring alignment with budgetary requirements.
- Supporting procurement processes for IT equipment and other assets.
- Acting as leave administrator and supporting HR in staffing needs.
- Ensuring compliance with WHO’s policies and administrative guidelines.
You’ll also be expected to address challenges proactively, collaborating with teams to enhance operational efficiency.
🧑🎓 What You’ll Need About Opportunity with WHO
Education
- Essential: Completion of secondary school, with training in finance, administration, or business administration.
- Desirable: Additional training in UN/HR systems and computer skills.
Experience
- Essential: Minimum of 8 years in program and administrative support.
- Desirable: Experience with WHO, other UN agencies, or INGOs. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems is an advantage.
Skills
- Strong analytical and multitasking abilities.
- Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in drafting clear and concise communications.
- Knowledge of WHO’s mandate and emergency incident management.
