Background & Job Description
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the largest private nonprofit fighting poverty, disease, and inequity worldwide. This 11-month Senior Program Officer role sits within the Immunization Program Strategy Team and focuses on reaching “zero-dose” children—those who’ve received no vaccines—across countries like Nigeria, DRC, Pakistan, Ethiopia, India, and Kenya.
This role supports the Foundation’s broader goal of reducing zero-dose children by 50% by 2030, as outlined in the global Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030). You’ll manage a strategic investment portfolio and collaborate with the Gavi Alliance, ministries of health, and technical partners to innovate, implement, and measure pro-equity approaches to routine immunization.
Tasks
Lead and manage investments that advance the Foundation’s zero-dose strategy in priority countries.
Collaborate with Gavi, national governments, and partners to deliver immunization services to unreached communities.
Drive agile learning and local adaptation strategies to reach marginalized populations.
Align efforts with Foundation country offices and global advocacy teams.
Track portfolio progress, manage grants, and synthesize program results.
Represent the Foundation in key meetings and policy dialogues.
Travel up to 25% to project sites as needed.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
Bachelor’s or advanced degree in global health, public health, or related field required.
Experience
10+ years working in global health, immunization, or health system strengthening, especially in LMICs.
Technical expertise in vaccines or vaccine-preventable diseases is strongly preferred.
Experience with Gavi Alliance or large-scale donor-funded health initiatives is a plus.
Strong leadership and cross-sector collaboration skills.
French language skills are a bonus.

Salary: $203,100 to $314,900 USD (Seattle-based range)
