The Western Union Global Fellowship Program, powered by Watson Institute and Western Union, offers a fully funded fellowship for emerging leaders and social entrepreneurs who are committed to supporting displaced, refugee, or otherwise marginalized communities.

This 16-week program is conducted virtually, enabling accessibility to fellows worldwide regardless of location. It is designed to equip participants with the entrepreneurial tools, leadership development, and global network access needed to elevate their impact.

The fellowship is sponsored by Western Union, one of the world’s most recognized financial service corporations. The program is delivered in partnership with Watson Institute, a social impact organization with a focus on educating and training the next generation of change-makers.


Tasks

Fellows accepted into the program will be responsible for the following:

  • Participating in live virtual sessions focused on leadership, impact measurement, and community-based problem solving.
  • Working on a community-driven “Basecamp” project designed to create tangible impact in a local context.
  • Engaging in one-on-one mentorship to refine strategies, execution, and scale of their initiative.

  • Submitting regular progress updates, project reports, and implementation reflections.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

This program is open to applicants regardless of formal education level. However, successful candidates generally demonstrate:

Experience
