The MCW Global Young Leaders Fellowship 2027 is inviting applications from young people around the world who are committed to creating positive change in their communities.
The year-long fellowship equips young leaders with skills and resources to develop and implement community projects focused on education, health or economic security.
The program combines community needs assessment, intensive in-person leadership training, project development, implementation and ongoing mentorship.
About the Young Leaders Fellowship
The fellowship is designed for young people who have identified an issue affecting their communities and want to develop a practical solution.
Participants begin with a one-month Community Needs Assessment, during which they learn how to understand and map the needs of their communities.
This is followed by a 10-day intensive in-person training program focused on vision planning and project development. Participants transform their ideas into concrete action plans while developing leadership skills and placing their local challenges within a wider global context.
After the in-person program, participants return to their communities and spend approximately 10 months developing and implementing their projects with virtual support from alumni mentors.
Three-Phase Fellowship Structure
The Young Leaders Fellowship is organised into three main phases.
1. Community Needs Assessment – One Month
The first phase takes place virtually. Participants conduct community mapping and needs assessments to develop a stronger understanding of the challenges affecting their communities.
2. Vision Planning and Project Development – 10 Days
Participants then attend an intensive in-person program featuring speakers, workshops, events and facilitated group work.
The training helps participants turn their passion and ideas into an actionable community project.
3. Project Implementation and Alumni Mentorship – 10 Months
Following the in-person training, participants return home to work on their community projects.
Each Young Leader is supported by an alumni mentor who has previously completed the fellowship. Mentors provide guidance through quarterly virtual gatherings and ongoing communication throughout the year.
