The position provides an opportunity for an experienced governance specialist to work closely with senior leadership and governance stakeholders while supporting accountability, oversight and effective decision-making across Oxfam International.

Position Overview

The Interim Head of Governance will provide leadership and expert governance advice to ensure the effective functioning of Oxfam International’s global governance arrangements.

During the 10-month cover period, the successful candidate will help ensure the continued delivery of the OIS Governance Team’s mandate while supporting governance leadership, oversight and accountability.

The role involves working closely with the Oxfam International Executive Director, Leadership Teams, OI Board Chair and other governance stakeholders.

The successful candidate will help ensure that Oxfam’s governance components have the support required to fulfil their responsibilities effectively.

Key Responsibilities

A major responsibility of the Interim Head of Governance is to lead and manage the Governance Team.

The role also promotes:

  • Transparency and accountability
  • Inclusive decision-making
  • Feminist principles
  • Equitable power sharing
  • Effective governance oversight
  • Strong governance systems and processes

This makes the position particularly suited to professionals with substantial experience in governance leadership, organisational accountability and working with senior-level stakeholders.
