About the Role
The Project Assistant (Case Supervisor) will support the implementation of Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) activities and supervise child protection caseworkers. The role involves strengthening caseworkers’ technical skills, providing regular coaching, monitoring case management practices, and promoting staff wellbeing.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Coordinator and the wider child protection team to ensure that case management services are delivered in accordance with established standard operating procedures and inter-agency guidelines.
The position also supports coordination between case management, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), and community-level child protection mechanisms.
Key Responsibilities
The Project Assistant will contribute to programme implementation, service quality, and community coordination.
Key duties include:
- Supervising, coaching, and supporting child protection caseworkers.
- Conducting weekly individual supervision sessions and case management team meetings.
- Reviewing case files and monitoring case documentation.
- Ensuring confidentiality, data protection, and appropriate information-sharing practices.
- Supporting high-risk and complex cases when required.
- Assessing caseworkers’ competencies and identifying training needs.
- Supporting mental health and psychosocial support activities for children and adults.
- Maintaining updated service mapping and referral information.
- Identifying children and families who may require case management support.
- Supporting cash safety planning, follow-up activities, and the safe delivery of cash-related assistance.
- Coordinating with Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) teams on data collection and monitoring.
- Preparing programme reports and contributing to training and workshop planning.
- Working with community members, service providers, and NGOs to identify and safely refer children at risk.
The role also carries significant child safeguarding responsibilities, including reporting concerns and helping prevent abuse, exploitation, neglect, and harm.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should demonstrate an understanding of child rights, child protection issues, and child development.
The essential requirements include:
- Proficiency in the relevant local language, both spoken and written.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
- Empathy and effective communication with children, young people, and families.
- Active listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- A commitment to child safeguarding and the organisation’s values.
Desirable experience includes staff supervision, training and coaching, report writing, monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, and working in humanitarian or community-based programmes. Familiarity with gender equality, disability inclusion, displacement, and safer programming is also beneficial.
