What Will the Intern Do?
The selected intern will support activities designed to improve understanding and implementation of Article 6, including carbon market cooperation and climate capacity building.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Event coordination and project support
Assist with planning and organising meetings, workshops, webinars, conferences, training sessions and missions. Tasks may include logistical arrangements, administrative support, documentation and tracking project timelines.
2. Research and data analysis
Support research, data collection, analysis and presentation related to countries’ participation in Article 6 implementation. The intern may also help track capacity-building initiatives, partner events, institutional needs and best practices.
3. Stakeholder engagement
Help coordinate collaboration between UNFCCC teams, Regional Collaboration Centres and external partners to strengthen cooperation and align knowledge-sharing activities.
4. Digital communications and knowledge products
Contribute to the development of newsletters, articles, blogs, social media content, manuals, guidebooks, infographics, videos, podcasts and online courses.
5. Knowledge management
Help organise and present information in accessible formats so that countries and other stakeholders can better understand and implement climate policy initiatives.
The internship is designed to provide practical experience in project management, research, communication and international climate cooperation.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be enrolled in a graduate programme, such as a master’s degree or higher, at a recognised university; or be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme at bachelor’s level or equivalent.
- Be studying environmental policy, international development, political science, economics, communications or another field relevant to the internship.
- Be fluent in written and spoken English.
- Be able to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment.
Knowledge of additional United Nations languages is an advantage.
