📌 Job Summary
Are you passionate about criminal justice reform and promoting equal access to justice for all? UNODC is hiring a Consultant to support its Access to Justice team. Based in Vienna, Austria, the consultant will play a key role in drafting reports, organizing global events, delivering webinars, and producing background materials for technical assistance programs.
This position is ideal for professionals with strong legal research, project planning, and drafting skills, particularly in areas such as legal aid, victim support, and human rights-based approaches to justice.
📝 Key Responsibilities
The consultant will report to the Team Leader and work on the following:

Drafting the expert group meeting report on equal access to justice.

Preparing and organizing side-events during key meetings like:
-
The LAC Regional Preparatory Meeting (RPM)
-
Europe RPM (Vienna)
-
Regional events in Addis Ababa and Brazil
-
-
Developing and delivering three thematic webinars.
-
Drafting and revising five concept notes.

Contributing to:
-
UNODC’s legal aid assessment tool
-
An e-Learning module on quality legal aid
-
A background paper for Workshop 2 at the UN Crime Congress
-
-
Supporting technical assistance events and bilateral meetings during the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (CCPCJ).

Collaborating with ILANUD on workshop organization.
🎓 Qualifications and Skills
Requirement | Details |
---|---|
Education | Master’s degree in Law, Diplomacy, International Relations, Social Studies, or related fields is required. A first-level degree with 2 additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu. |
Experience | Minimum 2 years of professional experience in legal research, criminal justice, or access to justice. |
Skills | Excellent analytical, writing, and drafting skills. Knowledge of legal aid and social justice frameworks is desirable. |
Language | Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN official language (especially French or Spanish) is an advantage. |
Preferred | Experience working with international organizations on criminal justice reform or legal aid initiatives. |
