Qualifications

Education and Certification

For Humanities and Social Sciences:

Must have earned a PhD, JD, or MD by December 2022.
Must have published a monograph or at least two peer-reviewed journal articles or book chapters.

For Science, Engineering, and Mathematics:

Must have earned a PhD by December 2022.
Must have published at least five articles in peer-reviewed journals, though most successful applicants have significantly more.

For Artists and Creative Professionals:
Discipline-specific eligibility includes:

Visual Arts: At least five years of professional experience, including group and solo exhibitions.
Film & Video: Work exhibited in professional settings such as film festivals or galleries.
Fiction & Nonfiction: Must have published a book, have a book contract, or have published at least three substantial works.
Poetry: Minimum of 20 published poems or one full-length book of poetry in the last five years.
Journalism: At least five years of professional journalism experience.
Playwriting: Must have produced plays or hold options on significant works.
Music Composition: Strong portfolio of professional performances; a PhD or DMA is preferred but not required.
