Junior Fellows Internship Programme
The United Nations University (UNU) offers an exciting Junior Fellows Internship Programme at its Office of the Rector in Tokyo. This program is designed for graduate students and young professionals who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in the UN system, particularly in UNU’s work. Selected candidates contribute to the mission of UNU while learning and developing practical skills.

Junior Fellows Internship Programme at UNU
Programme Highlights:
- Purpose:
The programme promotes interaction between young scholars and UNU, offering opportunities to gain experience in administrative functions, support activities in the Office of the Rector, and deepen knowledge of UNU’s operations. - Work Assignments:
Junior Fellows support activities in administrative research, event coordination, communication, editorial support, and policy development. They assist in planning, organizing academic forums, taking meeting minutes, drafting executive briefs, and more. - Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be pursuing or have recently completed (within two years) postgraduate studies (Master’s or Ph.D.) in a relevant field.
- Under 32 years of age at the time of application.
- No more than 5 years of work experience in the related field.
- Fluent in English with strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Working Conditions:
- The internship runs twice per year, with the fall term starting in August (lasting until December) and the spring term from February to May.
- Full-time commitment (9:30 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday).
- Stipend: Monthly stipend, including transportation allowance.
- Leave: 1.5 days of leave per month.
