The UNFCCC is the primary international body addressing climate change through the Convention, the Kyoto Protocol, and the Paris Agreement. The Adaptation Division supports member states in implementing adaptation and loss and damage measures.
This internship, located in the Response Subdivision, contributes to the Warsaw International Mechanism (WIM) for Loss and Damage associated with Climate Change Impacts and its Executive Committee (ExCom). The intern will gain hands-on experience in knowledge management, technical support, and communications while engaging with UNFCCC processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct web-based research and literature reviews to support knowledge products and mandated documents.
- Maintain, update, and develop databases and online materials related to the WIM ExCom workplan.
- Support webpage updates and the creation of communication materials on assigned topics.
- Assist in organizing and participating in meetings and events under the relevant workstream.
- Attend staff meetings to understand other adaptation workstreams and UNFCCC operations.
- Provide general support to the Response Subdivision Manager and Adaptation Division Director as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications:
- Enrollment in the final year of a bachelor’s or master’s degree at a recognized university during the internship period.
Experience:
- Strong written and oral English communication skills; knowledge of other UN languages is an asset.
- Academic background in economics, development studies, environmental sciences, international relations, or related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments.
- Skills in communications, social media, infographics, photography, or videography are advantageous.

- Duration: 4–6 months between January 2026 and January 2027
