The Research Partnership Manager role is part of CARE’s PSAI – IMP LEARN KNWL ACC department, which focuses on knowledge management, research integration, and leveraging evidence for programmatic impact. Based in Atlanta, GA, this position supports CARE’s mission by connecting research and practice, driving evidence-informed interventions, and promoting learning across CARE country offices.
Job Summary
The Research Partnership Manager is responsible for:
- Building and managing strategic research partnerships with universities, think tanks, research consortia, and other research-focused institutions.
- Facilitating collaborative research projects to inform CARE’s programs and policy advocacy.
- Promoting a culture of learning within CARE, ensuring that research findings translate into actionable insights for program improvement and scale.
- Supporting funding mobilization, ensuring research partnerships are resourced for maximum impact.
- Maintaining research integrity, ethics, and capacity sharing across CARE staff and external partners.
This role ensures that CARE’s programs are evidence-driven, impactful, and aligned with global development priorities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Partnership Development & Management
- Identify, cultivate, and maintain a network of research partners aligned with CARE’s strategic evidence agenda.
- Conduct due diligence and negotiate agreements with research institutions, universities, and think tanks.
- Manage engagement of research students, interns, and fellows to strengthen CARE’s learning and research capacity.
- Increase CARE’s research visibility and footprint, enhancing evidence-based program design and implementation.
2. Collaborative Research & Evidence Generation
- Lead the co-creation of research projects with partners and CARE country offices.
- Oversee the partnership lifecycle: due diligence, agreements, joint implementation, quality assurance, and close-out.
- Co-design rigorous and ethically sound research and evaluations tailored to local contexts.
- Provide technical assistance on research methodologies and co-develop capacity-building initiatives for staff and partners.
- Ensure research findings are accessible, actionable, and effectively communicated.
3. Knowledge Management & Learning
- Capture, synthesize, and share evidence from research partnerships across CARE.
- Develop learning briefs and organize dissemination events to inform internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to communities of practice and promote the use of evidence in programmatic decision-making.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
4. Research Fundraising & Grant Coordination
- Track and identify funding opportunities from foundations, governments, and other donors.
- Lead co-development of research proposals with external partners, including integrated narratives and budgets.
- Ensure alignment of research initiatives with donor expectations and CARE’s strategic goals.
- Secure funding to advance CARE’s learning agenda, foster innovation, and enhance programmatic impact globally.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in International Development, Applied Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or related fields. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are considered.
- Experience: 3–5 years in a research, evidence, or partnership-focused role in international development.
- Skills:
- Proven ability to build and manage partnerships with research institutions.
- Strong understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate research for non-technical audiences.
- Project management expertise, including planning, budgeting, and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or specialized training in research methods, statistics, or evaluation.
- Experience in fundraising for research projects.
- Proficiency in Spanish or French.
- Experience with CARE’s digital data tools (Power BI, DHIS2, KoboToolBox, Dioptra, R).

Salary & Benefits
