Responsibilities
As the Chief Academic and Administrative Officer, the Director will:
- Provide strategic leadership and oversee all UNU-WIDER operations.
- Lead research programs, ensuring high academic and policy relevance.
- Manage budgets, staff, and institutional partnerships.
- Strengthen funding and resource mobilization efforts.
- Foster global collaborations with UN agencies, think tanks, and governments.
- Represent UNU-WIDER at high-level policy discussions and international forums.
Qualifications & Experience
🎓 Education:
- A PhD in Economics or a related field.
👨💼 Experience:
- At least 15 years of experience in economics or development research.
- A strong track record of leadership and management in an academic or research setting.
- Proven ability to mobilize resources and manage donor relations.
- Experience in financial and human resource management.
- Knowledge of UN policies and global development frameworks is an asset.
🗣 Language Requirements:
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
- Knowledge of Finnish or another UN language is an advantage.
