What Will You Be Doing?
As part of the Response Subdivision, your primary responsibilities include:
1. Supporting Intersessional Activities
- Conducting research on climate risks, comprehensive risk management approaches, human mobility, and action support.
- Preparing technical documents and synthesizing data for use in knowledge products.
- Engaging with experts, partner organizations, and regional centers to co-develop knowledge products and events.
2. Organizing and Participating in Events
- Assisting in the preparation of briefing notes, background materials, and presentations for key meetings and side events.
- Taking detailed notes and synthesizing discussions during events to draft reports and summaries.
3. Contributing to Intergovernmental Processes
- Preparing technical analyses and documentation to support negotiations.
- Drafting conclusions and decisions to guide discussions and consultations.
4. Driving Communication and Outreach
- Developing communication strategies and creating content for newsletters, social media, and the UNFCCC website.
- Managing and updating databases and web portals.
What Are We Looking For?
Educational Background
- A Master’s degree in climate science, sustainable development, environmental studies, international relations, or related fields.
- A Bachelor’s degree plus two years of additional experience may substitute for a Master’s degree.
Experience
- At least two years of progressively responsible experience in climate change impacts, adaptation, disaster risk management, or related fields.
Language Skills
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
