The Team

The Gender Equality Division aims to empower women and girls in Africa and South Asia by ensuring they have access to healthcare, financial independence, and leadership opportunities. We address systemic barriers through strategic partnerships, innovation, and data-driven initiatives. The Women’s Health Innovations (WHI) team, under the Gender Equality Division, focuses on improving health and economic outcomes for women and girls through advancements in family planning, gynecological health, and sexually transmitted infections.

Your Role

As the Program Officer for Product Introduction, you will play a crucial role in launching and scaling innovative women’s health products, with a primary focus on self-injectable contraceptives. You will oversee a portfolio of grants and contracts, support product introduction strategies, and ensure effective commercialization and market access.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead product introduction efforts for DMPA-SC, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drive market research, supply strategies, and demand generation to enhance product adoption.
  • Integrate market and user insights into upstream development and strategic planning.
  • Manage grant investments, including prospecting, due diligence, and financial oversight.
  • Engage with grantees, conduct site visits, and provide technical guidance to optimize program impact.
  • Develop and present written analyses, reports, and funding recommendations for leadership.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing within the foundation.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree with 5+ years of relevant experience in reproductive health, family planning, or women’s health.
  • Expertise in product introduction and market access, preferably in both public and private sectors.
  • Strong experience in grant management and portfolio oversight.
  • Knowledge of South and East Africa (e.g., Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia) is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with governments, donors, and global partners.
  • Experience in data analysis, research methodologies, and strategic planning.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to thrive in a culturally diverse, fast-paced environment.

Compensation

The salary range for this role Program Officer is $169,700 – $254,500 USD, with adjustments for high-wage markets like Seattle and Washington, DC ($185,000 – $277,400 USD). Compensation is based on skills, experience, and role-specific expertise.
