Fully Funded Dalai Lama Trust Scholarship 2025. The Dalai Lama Trust Scholarship 2025 is now open to international Tibetan students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate degrees. This fully funded opportunity supports those facing financial hardship, with direct financial transfers to selected students. Apply by June 15 (Undergraduate) or August 31 (Postgraduate) at dalailamatrust.org.


Background & Scholarship Description

The Dalai Lama Trust Scholarship 2025 offers a transformative opportunity for Tibetan students living outside of India, including those in Nepal, Bhutan, and other regions. Administered by the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the program aims to empower students through education, particularly those from disadvantaged or refugee backgrounds.

In 2025, the trust is offering:

  • 100 fully funded undergraduate scholarships
  • 5 fully funded postgraduate scholarships (for previous undergraduate awardees only)

Scholarships are limited to degree programsβ€”vocational or short-term certificate courses are not eligible.


Tasks Covered by the Scholarship

  • Full tuition and living expenses, disbursed directly to each student’s personal bank account (preferably State Bank of India – SBI)
  • Intended for 3-year or longer undergraduate programs, or eligible postgraduate degrees
  • Supports academic progression while recognizing financial hardship, moral character, and academic potential

Qualifications

Undergraduate Scholarship

Applicants must meet at least one of the following conditions:

1. Academic Consistency

  • Demonstrated strong academic commitment, even if Class XII scores are low
  • Requires Form B and a school recommendation letter

2. Strong Moral Character

  • Honest, responsible, and well-mannered behavior
  • Requires Form B and a school recommendation

3. Financial Hardship

  • Orphaned, semi-orphaned, or from a low-income family
  • Must submit Form A verified by the Tibetan Settlement Officer

Mandatory Documentation for Undergraduate Applicants

  • Valid Green Book (GB) for applicant and parents with contributions updated until March 31, 2024
  • Valid Registration Certificate (RC)
  • Tibetan Settlement Officer recommendation (for those in Nepal, Bhutan, Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Gangtok)
  • No other scholarships being received
  • If there’s a gap year, clearly explain the reason in your application

Postgraduate Scholarship

  • Only open to students previously awarded the Dalai Lama Trust Undergraduate Scholarship
  • Must submit complete academic transcripts and certificates from undergraduate studies
  • All general documentation from the undergraduate list remains required
