Key Responsibilities of the Project Director

1. Subject Matter Expertise on Forced Labour

  • Serve as an expert on forced labour policies and human rights law.
  • Represent GRC in high-level meetings with government officials, international agencies, and corporate stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic direction on legal, advocacy, and research initiatives.

2. Project Management & Strategy Implementation

  • Oversee the implementation of GRC’s flagship forced labour project, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Finance, HR, Monitoring & Evaluation, Communications) to streamline project execution.
  • Ensure all project activities adhere to established methodologies and timelines.

3. Team Leadership & Mentorship

  • Manage and mentor a diverse team of legal experts, researchers, and program coordinators.
  • Facilitate team brainstorming sessions on project implementation strategies.
  • Identify emerging talent within the team and provide career development opportunities.

Your Background & Qualifications

To excel in this role, applicants should have:

  • 7+ years of experience in business and human rights, international humanitarian law, or forced labour advocacy.
  • Proven experience leading US-funded projects.
  • Strong expertise in eliminating state-imposed forced labour and promoting workers’ rights.
  • Experience working with government agencies, intergovernmental bodies, and civil society organizations.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage complex projects without extensive supervision.
  • Proficiency in English (additional language skills are an advantage).
  • Strong adaptability, creativity, and problem-solving skills to navigate fast-moving and high-pressure environments.
