Greenpeace International (GPI) is offering an exciting Global Finance Internship for 2025. This six-month, full-time opportunity invites recent graduates in finance, accounting, economics, or related fields to gain practical experience with one of the world’s leading environmental organizations.
Based in the Netherlands, the internship offers a hybrid working model, blending remote work with in-person days at the Greenpeace International headquarters in Amsterdam. Interns receive a monthly stipend of €800 (net), with access to learning and development opportunities within a globally recognized nonprofit.
The Global Finance Team at Greenpeace International is responsible for producing accurate financial reports, analyzing trends, and supporting the financial health of the organization. Interns will help consolidate global financial data, prepare cash flow statements, and develop budgeting templates—contributing directly to Greenpeace’s mission to protect the planet.

Tasks
As a Global Finance Intern, you’ll work 40 hours per week over a period of six months, supporting various functions within the GPI Global Finance team. Your tasks will include:
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in preparing and reviewing monthly and quarterly financial reports
- Support the consolidation of financial data from multiple international Greenpeace offices
- Help generate cash flow submissions and budgeting templates for global use
- Identify trends and irregularities in financial data and report findings to senior staff
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with other teams and departments involved in financial planning and reporting
- Support special finance-related projects that align with Greenpeace’s strategic objectives
Data & Tools
- Work with Excel spreadsheets and financial software to compile, clean, and interpret data
- Ensure accuracy and transparency in data collection, storage, and documentation
Research & Process Improvement
- Research best practices in nonprofit financial management
- Assist in streamlining workflows and updating templates or dashboards for internal use
This role offers real-world exposure to global nonprofit financial systems, helping you build a portfolio of technical and interpersonal skills that are in demand across sectors.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
Applicants should meet the following academic criteria:
- A recent degree (or equivalent diploma) in one of the following fields:
- Finance
- Accounting
- Economics
- Business Administration
- Data Analytics (with finance background)
No advanced degree or certification is required, but a strong academic foundation in financial principles and accounting is essential.
Experience
The internship is designed for early-career professionals, but the following experiences and competencies will strengthen your application:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including functions like pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and basic formulas
- Familiarity with financial software tools or ERPs
- Basic understanding of financial statements and nonprofit accounting practices
- Experience handling financial data, even in academic projects or volunteer roles

Due to Dutch legal requirements, GPI can only accept candidates who are legally allowed to work in the Netherlands and have or can get a Dutch social security number (BSN).
