About IOM

Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a Related Organization of the United Nations and the leading UN agency in migration. IOM collaborates with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners to promote humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all.

The IOM Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) in Bangkok provides strategic and technical support to 40 IOM Country Offices in the region. The Regional Resources Management Unit (RRMU) oversees budgeting, accounting, human resources, procurement, and other administrative functions.

Internship Overview

The HR Intern will support the Regional Human Resources Officer (RHRO) in various human resource management functions, gaining hands-on experience in an international, multicultural environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare HR-related reports as required.
  • Coordinate with field missions for HR initiatives.
  • Generate reports and redirect employee benefit queries.
  • Update internal HR databases.
  • Screen resumes and application forms.
  • Assist in the implementation of the yearly training plan.
  • Coordinate new hire orientations.
  • Perform other HR-related duties as assigned.

  • Gain in-depth knowledge of HR practices in the development sector.
  • Attend internal and external workshops, meetings, and webinars.
  • Strengthen writing and information presentation skills.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be between 20 and 36 years old.
  • Either a student in the final stages of studies or a recent graduate.
  • Less than two years of relevant work experience.
  • Open to candidates of all nationalities.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Adaptability to an international, multicultural environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher).
  • Advanced English writing and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools is a plus.
  • Webpage and database management experience is an advantage.

Language Requirement

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of additional UN languages is an asset.
