Background & Job Description
ClimateWorks Foundation is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Grants and Contracts Associate to join its Finance & Grants Team. This full-time, entry-level position supports the administration of grants and contracts across the foundation, helping ensure compliance, accuracy, and timeliness in recordkeeping and process coordination.
The position is remote-flexible within the United States, with an optional in-office work setting available at ClimateWorks’ San Francisco headquarters. Salary ranges from $75,000 to $85,000 per year, depending on location. This role is ideal for individuals early in their careers who are committed to climate action, philanthropy, and nonprofit operations.

Tasks
As a Grants and Contracts Associate, you will report to the Director of Grants Management and collaborate with both program teams and the Finance & Grants Team. Key duties include:
Grants and Contracts Administration
- Maintain accurate records and electronic files for grants and contracts.
- Execute no-cost extensions, prepare and send award letters, and manage contract activations.
- Track reminders, disbursements, and deadlines using internal systems.
- Coordinate contract modifications and closures with team leads and accounting.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and grantmaking best practices.
Operational Support
- Generate and distribute status reports twice a week or as requested.
- Monitor the internal queue and assign tasks or requests accordingly.
- Collaborate with the Accounting Team to process disbursement requests.
- Troubleshoot system issues related to grant management.
- Maintain cross-departmental communication related to grant and contract processes.
Additional Responsibilities
- Respond to inquiries about the grant management system.
- Support amendments to contracts or grants.
- Contribute to special projects and ad hoc tasks as needed.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required.
Experience
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience, ideally in an administrative or nonprofit role involving grants or contract management.
- Prior experience working with Salesforce or Asana is a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of the nonprofit sector and philanthropy will be considered an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
- Experience managing digital databases, preferably grant management systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.

Compensation and Benefits
ClimateWorks Foundation offers a competitive compensation package including:
- Salary:
- Bay Area / New York City: $80,000 – $85,000 annually
- Other U.S. locations: $75,000 – $80,000 annually
