About the Role – Remote WHO Consultant

Hiring Organization: Unitaid – a hosted partnership of the WHO
Project: Climate & Health (C&H) Investment Initiative
This initiative is part of Unitaid’s broader commitment under its 2023–2027 strategy to promote climate-resilient and sustainable health systems by investing in climate-smart innovations and reducing the environmental impact of global health supply chains.


Purpose of the Remote WHO Consultant

This consultancy will provide both strategic and technical support to implement Unitaid’s Climate & Health Investment Initiative. The consultant will help drive research, identify investment opportunities, and develop impactful proposals aligned with global health and climate goals.


Core Responsibilities

Investment Strategy & Execution

  • Support the rollout of C&H investments in line with Unitaid’s strategic objectives.

  • Collaborate closely with the Sustainability Manager to design effective investment frameworks.

Research & Market Intelligence

  • Conduct research into climate-smart health technologies and sustainable supply chains.

  • Identify high-impact investment opportunities within Unitaid’s scope.

Proposal Development & Resource Mobilization

  • Draft well-supported investment cases, ensuring scientific and financial credibility.

  • Align proposals with international climate standards, ESG principles, and public health needs.


Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Required: Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Preferred: Additional certification in climate change policy, sustainable supply chains, or environmental management.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in sustainability, climate adaptation, or environmental innovation.

  • Demonstrated work in business case development and supply chain sustainability.

  • Familiarity with climate-health intersections and Unitaid’s mission is a plus.

  • Preferred: Experience with health sector supply chains or product development.

Skills

  • Expertise in environmental sustainability frameworks and regulations.

  • Ability to interpret technical data, including life cycle assessments and ESG benchmarks.

  • Strong cross-sector collaboration skills and stakeholder engagement experience.

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills for senior-level audiences.


Language Requirements

  • Required: Fluent English

  • Preferred: Intermediate French
