As part of a collaborative, cross-functional team, the Senior iOS Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable, high-performance iOS applications. The role is instrumental in delivering modern mobile experiences to millions of sports fans, backed by the latest technologies and agile methodologies.
This is a remote role with occasional travel required for team collaboration, events, and meetings.
Tasks
Software Development
- Design and build scalable iOS features using Swift and modern frameworks such as UIKit, Core Animation, and XCTest.
- Maintain high standards of code quality through code reviews, testing, and technical documentation.
- Develop reusable tools and components to support app performance, modularity, and maintainability.
- Create and manage RESTful API integrations for seamless backend communication.
Quality and Performance
- Participate in testing strategies including unit, integration, and UI tests to ensure robust app performance.
- Use debugging and profiling tools to optimize app efficiency, responsiveness, and reliability.
- Contribute to improving test coverage, operational metrics, and technical documentation.
Agile Collaboration
- Participate in Agile workflows, including daily scrums, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Work closely with product managers and UX/UI designers to translate feature requirements into high-quality technical solutions.
- Escalate roadblocks and technical issues proactively, contributing to continuous delivery practices.
Technical Leadership
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, fostering a culture of growth, collaboration, and innovation.
- Support onboarding efforts and team knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Contribute to engineering discussions on architecture, design patterns, and best practices such as MVVM and dependency injection.
Product & Strategy Alignment
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align iOS development with Fanatics’ customer experience goals.
- Influence technology decisions that affect user engagement and product innovation.
- Maintain familiarity with Fanatics’ product ecosystem and roadmap to ensure aligned technical contributions.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
Although no specific degree is required, candidates with a background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical fields are strongly encouraged to apply. Certifications in iOS development or Agile practices are a plus but not required.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience developing scalable iOS applications using Swift.
- Experience building apps that have been deployed to production and maintained over time.
- Familiarity with modern iOS architectures and design patterns, including MVVM, coordinators, and routers.
- Prior work using CI/CD pipelines such as Fastlane, GitHub Actions, and Swift Package Manager is highly preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Swift, UIKit, and iOS testing tools.
- Strong command of RESTful APIs and backend communication protocols.
- Debugging and profiling expertise for app performance tuning.
- Familiarity with dependency injection, mock creation, and advanced test strategies.
