The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a globally recognized health organization dedicated to saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low- and middle-income countries. Founded in 2002 to combat the HIV/AIDS epidemic, CHAI has since expanded its focus to include infectious diseases such as COVID-19, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis, as well as non-communicable diseases like cancer, diabetes, and hypertension. Additionally, CHAI actively works to improve maternal and child health, enhance access to life-saving vaccines, combat chronic malnutrition, and facilitate access to assistive technology.

Program Overview

The Global Diagnostics Team (GDT) supports Ministries of Health and CHAI’s country teams in addressing barriers to diagnostic access and fostering a competitive marketplace for essential diagnostic testing. The team collaborates with manufacturers, governments, and global health organizations to reduce costs, increase access, and promote the adoption of innovative diagnostics.


Position Overview

The Senior Program Manager (SPM) will oversee a major initiative to introduce innovative diagnostic products in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This role involves working closely with GDT directors to manage grant and financial operations while fostering strong partnerships with donors and external stakeholders. Additionally, the SPM will provide technical expertise in diagnostic product evaluation and market-shaping interventions.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated professional with exceptional project management skills, technical knowledge in diagnostics, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with key partners.


Key Responsibilities

Grant and Donor Management:

  • Implement project management strategies to ensure optimal performance and program impact.
  • Develop tools and tracking systems to monitor project milestones and deliverables.
  • Oversee the production of grant reports and donor presentations.
  • Manage contracts with consultants, subcontractors, and partners, ensuring compliance with financial and administrative policies.
  • Organize and lead high-level meetings and strategic discussions with stakeholders.
  • Maintain comprehensive online project documentation.

Supply Side Engagement:

  • Develop databases, analyses, and frameworks to assess diagnostic manufacturers and products.
  • Conduct market research and product landscaping to inform CHAI’s strategy.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and analyses on promising diagnostic technologies.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Business, Economics, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale programs with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and work independently.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Familiarity with global health challenges and funding mechanisms.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% internationally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, diagnostics, or healthcare industry.
  • MBA, MPH, or PhD in a relevant discipline.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience working in low-resource or developing country settings.
