The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is a mission-driven global health organization dedicated to saving lives and improving healthcare systems in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Since its inception during the HIV/AIDS crisis, CHAI has expanded its programs across infectious and non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, vaccine access, and health system strengthening.
The Global Diagnostics Team (GDT) plays a pivotal role in improving access to essential diagnostics by collaborating with governments, multilateral agencies, and industry partners. As part of this team, the Senior Program Manager (SPM) will support the operational, financial, and strategic functions of major diagnostic innovation programs, enabling broader access to diagnostic tools in LMICs.
This high-impact role involves managing multimillion-dollar donor-funded projects, tracking deliverables, ensuring budget compliance, preparing reporting documentation, and facilitating cross-team collaboration. The role is open to candidates located in CHAI program countries, subject to leadership approval.
Tasks
Grant and Donor Management
- Lead project management strategies that maximize delivery efficiency and team performance
- Oversee grant operations, including timely production and submission of donor reports and deliverables
- Develop and maintain tracking tools to monitor programmatic milestones and financial performance
- Manage contracts with consultants, vendors, and partner organizations in partnership with internal teams
- Represent CHAI on donor and partner calls, and lead key planning meetings
- Maintain meticulous documentation across all project components, including compliance records
Financial Management
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process in coordination with finance and program teams
- Monitor monthly expenditures to ensure alignment with budgets and donor expectations
- Prepare detailed financial reports for internal review and donor submission
- Ensure regulatory compliance with donor policies and CHAI’s internal financial protocols
- Support donor audits and risk mitigation processes with accurate documentation and reconciliations
- Assist in the development of new budget proposals and strategic financial presentations
Qualifications
Education and Certification
- Advanced degree in Business, Public Health, Economics, or a related discipline is required
- PMP certification is a strong advantage
Experience
- Minimum 7 years of grant and financial management experience, ideally within the nonprofit or global health sector
- Proven success managing large, donor-funded international programs
- Strong familiarity with budgeting, financial systems, and compliance standards
- Background in global health, diagnostics, or working in LMICs is highly desirable
- Experience developing high-quality written reports, dashboards, and presentations
- Ability to work effectively across diverse teams in high-pressure and low-structure environments

- Highly analytical with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with an ability to build strong relationships across all levels

- Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Experience in global health diagnostics, public health systems, or healthcare supply chains is a plus
Travel and Location
- This role offers a flexible base location, pending approval by CHAI country leadership
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time
