🌍 The Dakar Subregional Hub: Your Base of Operations
The newly established Dakar Hub is a strategic base serving 16 West African nations — including The Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, Nigeria, and Burkina Faso. As Project Manager Consultant, you’ll play a pivotal role in coordinating innovative, transboundary projects such as:

Urban resilience planning in French-speaking LDCs

Eco-innovation and eco-construction workshops
-
Local SDG acceleration in Saint-Louis, Ziguinchor, and Pikine (Senegal)

Digital learning programs and urban data tools

Engagements with the United Nations Country Teams and the Sahel strategy
🧩 Key Responsibilities – What You’ll Do
This is a hands-on, multi-dimensional role requiring project coordination, stakeholder engagement, technical writing, training development, and regional representation. You’ll report to both the Senior Regional Planning Expert and the Capacity Development and Training Unit.
Some of your main responsibilities include:
1. Project Implementation and Coordination

Support the final implementation phase of the Harnessing Urbanization for Resilient and Inclusive Recoveryproject.

Coordinate eco-innovation workshops and spatial development training in Senegal and the Liptako-Gourma region.
-
Launch the project’s official webpage and organize final dissemination seminars.
2. Capacity Development & Training

Review and update training needs for Senegal and Burkina Faso.

Translate and finalize materials in the project’s digital learning toolbox.

Launch a new course on the New Urban Agenda (NUA).
3. Strategic Communication and Partnerships

Develop a communication and partnership strategy for the project.

Prepare a new online course on Financing Affordable Housing in collaboration with key regional partners.

Support the planning of the National Urban Forum in Senegal.
4. Documentation and Technical Input
-
Draft concept notes and project proposals for future UN-Habitat projects.

Ensure all documents meet internal validation standards.

Maintain close coordination between regional teams and global units.
