About the Role

This position is part of the Haiti Team within the Americas Division of DPPA-DPO. The Americas Division leads efforts in conflict prevention, mediation, and peacebuilding in the region. The Research Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the team’s work related to Haiti, including backstopping the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH) and providing strategic advice to UN leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor media and compile reports on political, social, and economic developments in Haiti.
• Assist in the collection and analysis of data for reports, policy papers, and briefings.
• Prepare charts, graphs, and presentations to visualize key findings.
• Update information materials such as brochures and web pages.
• Research and compile data on Haiti-related projects and UN initiatives.
• Draft summaries of meetings and assist in managing high-level visits of UN leadership.
• Provide guidance and training to junior staff as required.

Qualifications and Competencies

Education:

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: A first-level university degree can reduce the required work experience by two years.

Experience:

• Several years of experience in data collection, research, and analysis related to socio-political and economic issues.
• At least one year of experience in data analytics is desirable.

Languages:

• Required: Fluency in English (oral and written).
• Desirable: Knowledge of French is an advantage.
