About UNAIDS

The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) leads global efforts to achieve the vision of zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination, and zero AIDS-related deaths. UNAIDS works collaboratively with 11 UN organizations and global and national partners to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The UNAIDS Internship Programme supports UNAIDS’ mission by offering opportunities for young professionals to contribute to meaningful projects while gaining valuable experience in a multicultural environment.

Internship Overview

  • Title: UNAIDS Internship 2024/2025

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Education:
    • Must be enrolled in or have recently completed (within the past year) an undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate program at a recognized educational institution.
    • Recent graduates should begin the internship within 12 months of graduation.
  2. Age: Candidates must be at least 20 years old at the time of application.
  3. Language: Proficiency (oral and written) in at least one official WHO/UNAIDS language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, or Spanish) required in the office of the internship.
  4. Exclusions:
    • Immediate family members of UNAIDS Secretariat employees are not eligible.
    • Candidates who have previously participated in UNAIDS internships are ineligible.

Key Responsibilities

Interns will support UNAIDS teams across various areas, such as:

  • HIV/AIDS Program Implementation: Contributing to global and regional projects aimed at achieving UNAIDS’ goals.
  • Data Analysis and Research: Assisting in research and analysis to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Communications and Advocacy: Developing content to promote awareness and advocacy efforts.
  • Policy Development: Supporting the formulation of policies and guidelines related to HIV prevention and treatment.
