🔬 Role Overview: What You’ll Be Doing

As the Associate Research Officer, you’ll work under the guidance of senior scientists in the Dynamical Systems group, contributing to world-class theoretical mathematics research and mentoring emerging researchers.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct frontline research in Mathematics, focusing on Dynamical Systems, Topological Dynamics, Continuum Theory, or Ergodic Theory.

  • Coordinate scientific programmes by organizing seminars and topical meetings in your research area.

  • Mentor visiting researchers, especially those from developing countries, offering support and collaboration.

  • Contribute to other activities that strengthen the Section’s research and academic profile.


🎓 Qualifications: What You Need to Apply

Required:

  • PhD (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Topological Dynamical Systems, or a related field.

  • 1–2 years of post-doctoral research experience with a strong research record.

  • Experience working in Theoretical Mathematics, specifically Topological Dynamics, Continuum Theory, or Ergodic Theory.

  • Fluency in spoken and written English.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work across cultures and disciplines.

💡 Desirable:

  • Experience in an international environment or with the UN system.

  • Understanding of scientific research environments and working within educational institutions.

  • Knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish).
