About the Project

This opportunity is part of an EU-funded project titled “Developing agro-value chains for the improved resilience of rural communities.” The project’s main objective is to strengthen sustainable livelihoods and food security for communities in Sudan affected by conflict, food insecurity, and climate change.

The project focuses on the sesame value chain in the Gedaref State of Sudan, aiming to:

  • Increase productivity and profitability

  • Promote sustainable agro-processing

  • Foster entrepreneurship

  • Improve access to finance and digital tools

  • Enhance integration of agro-ecological practices

Key Outputs of the Project:

  • Output 1: Finalize inception phase and establish project management

  • Output 2: Strengthen value chain stakeholders through digital and financial services

  • Output 3: Foster agro-food processing and entrepreneurship

  • Output 4: Conduct monitoring and evaluation activities

The Graphic Designer will play a crucial role in creating a visual identity and communications package that supports these efforts across multiple project phases.


🖌️ Your Role: Graphic Designer (Home-Based)

As the Graphic Designer, you will provide creative design solutions and materials to support UNIDO’s communication strategy for this Sudanese agro-value chain project. The work will involve close coordination with the project team based at UNIDO Headquarters and with local teams.

🔧 Key Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities are divided into four main areas, each with clearly defined deliverables and an associated workload percentage.


1️⃣ Develop Project Branding & Visual Identity (15%)

  • Liaise with the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) to understand goals and vision.

  • Create a project logo, color palette, typography, and visual style guide.

  • Ensure all design elements align with UNIDO’s Corporate Design Manual.

Deliverables:
✔️ Finalized logo and branding guideline document


2️⃣ Design Templates in English & Arabic (40%)

  • Create editable templates for key communication formats:

    • PowerPoint presentations

    • Word/PDF reports

    • Proposals

    • Social media posts

  • Design visual elements representing technical content of the project.

Deliverables:
✔️ Editable document templates (PPT, Word) and social media graphics


3️⃣ Create Communication Materials in English & Arabic (40%)

  • Design:

    • Flyers, brochures, and posters

    • Banners and roll-up stands for events

    • Merchandise visuals (pens, mugs, vests, files, etc.)

  • Ensure designs are engaging, professional, and culturally appropriate.

Deliverables:
✔️ A full communication package with source files (AI, PSD, PNG, JPEG, PDF)


4️⃣ Final Narrative Report (5%)

  • Submit a final report detailing the work delivered.

✔️ Comprehensive narrative report on all outputs completed


🧾 Minimum Requirements

🎓 Education:

  • Completed secondary education is required.

  • A university degree in graphic design, arts, or industrial design is a strong asset.

  • Proficiency in software like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar is essential.

💼 Experience:

  • At least 6 years of hands-on experience in graphic design and illustration.

  • Demonstrated experience creating visuals for brochures, reports, and event branding.

🌐 Language Proficiency:

  • Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory (written and spoken).
