The United Nations (UN) is offering a Data and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Internship at its Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA) in New York, USA.
This six-month internship (March 2025 – August 2025) provides an excellent opportunity to work closely with the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) and gain valuable insights into peacebuilding efforts worldwide.

🔍 Roles & Responsibilities
As a Data and M&E Intern, you will work with the Design, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (DMEL) Team to support peacebuilding initiatives. Your key responsibilities will include:
✅ Evaluation & Data Management
- Recording project evaluations on the MPTF Gateway and internal PBF trackers.
- Supporting tracking of overdue project evaluations and portfolio evaluations.
- Preparing reports, social media content, and summaries of evaluation findings.
- Assisting with validation meetings and training sessions.
✅ Audit Support & Reporting
- Updating audit reports and tracking documentation.
- Assisting in the preparation of audit-related materials.
✅ M&E Peer Support Group
- Supporting meeting preparations and developing a repository of M&E tools.
- Managing communication lists (email & WhatsApp groups).
✅ Dashboard & Peacebuilding Priorities
- Assisting with the implementation of coding methods for project teams.
- Conducting training sessions for PBF HQ staff.
🎓 Eligibility & Qualifications
To qualify for this UN internship, you must meet the following criteria:
✔ Currently enrolled in OR have completed a graduate program (Master’s, PhD, or equivalent). ✔ Field of study related to Peacebuilding, Political Science, International Relations, or Social Sciences. ✔ Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. ✔ Strong writing and communication skills, especially for social media. ✔ Demonstrated interest in peacebuilding, global development, and UN initiatives. ✔ Ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
🌎 Languages
- Required: Fluency in English (spoken & written).
- Preferred: Knowledge of an additional UN language (French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian, or Chinese) is a plus.
