UNOPS Opportunity: Associate Project Manager | Apply Today. UNOPS is hiring a Project Management Support Associate to support governance, inclusion, and environmental protection initiatives. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a high-impact, multi-agency development program supported by the Government of Switzerland. Application deadline: 7 July 2025.


Background & Job Description

UNOPS is seeking a Project Management Support Associate to join the joint UN Programme “PRO – Local Governance for People and Nature.” This initiative aims to improve local governance, promote social inclusion, and enhance environmental governance across 110 municipalities.

The program, active from January 2023 to December 2026, is implemented by UNOPS in partnership with UNICEF, UNFPA, UNEP, and various Serbian government ministries. The Associate will support day-to-day project delivery under the guidance of the Project Manager and contribute to the broader success of the Programme.

This role is classified as a Local Individual Contractor Agreement (LICA-6) position and is based in Serbia.


Tasks

Project Implementation Support

  • Assist in coordinating and tracking project activities and schedules.
  • Support the collection and analysis of data relevant to the program’s three key pillars: governance, inclusion, and environmental protection.
  • Maintain communication with local government units and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with procurement and logistics processes in line with UNOPS standards.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Maintain detailed project files and ensure information is up to date.
  • Draft minutes, reports, and project updates.
  • Monitor and report on risks and issues affecting project delivery.

Communication and Coordination

  • Support the development and distribution of internal and external communications.
  • Help organize and coordinate meetings, events, and workshops with stakeholders.
  • Provide translation support where needed (Serbian-English).

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A university degree (Bachelor’s or higher) is an asset.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2 Foundation) is desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant administrative or project experience with a high school diploma.
  • With a bachelor’s degree, only 2 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience with international development programs is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools.
  • Familiarity with UN systems or experience in multi-stakeholder projects is a strong asset.

Language

  • Fluency in Serbian is required.
  • Working knowledge of English is essential.
