About Unitaid & Climate & Health Initiative

Unitaid is dedicated to accelerating access to life-saving health innovations. Through its 2023-2027 strategy, Unitaid is integrating sustainability and climate-conscious approaches into global health. This role supports the Climate & Health (C&H) Investment Initiative, a program focused on developing climate-smart health products, reducing carbon footprints, and strengthening supply chain resilience.

Role Purpose

The consultant will provide strategic and technical expertise to support the launch and operationalization of Unitaid’s Climate & Health investments. The role involves research, analysis, and the development of investment proposals to ensure impactful, scalable solutions that align with global climate and health objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Investment Development & Management
    • Support Unitaid’s Sustainability Manager in designing and rolling out Climate & Health investments.
    • Align projects with Unitaid’s strategic priorities and 2025 milestones.
  2. Research & Market Analysis
    • Conduct in-depth research on climate-smart health innovations and sustainability in global supply chains.
    • Identify investment opportunities in climate and health for Unitaid’s portfolio.
  3. Proposal Development & Resource Mobilization
    • Draft and refine investment proposals with strong technical and financial justifications.
    • Ensure alignment with climate science standards, environmental best practices, and global health needs.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Required: Advanced degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields.
  • Preferred: Certification in Environmental Sustainability, Sustainable Supply Chains, or Climate Change Policy.

Experience

  • 10+ years of professional experience across public, private, or development sectors.
  • Proven background in sustainability, decarbonization, and climate adaptation projects.
  • Experience in investment case development, business analysis, and global supply chain sustainability.
  • Understanding of climate-health challenges and Unitaid’s mission.
  • Preferred: Experience in health product supply chains or related industries.

Skills

  • Expert knowledge of environmental sustainability frameworks and regulations.
  • Ability to analyze technical studies, life cycle assessments, and ESG standards.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills to drive cross-sector impact.
  • Excellent technical writing and presentation skills for senior stakeholders.
