🎯 Purpose of the Consultancy

The consultant will support the WHO Country Office in providing technical advice to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) in strengthening the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) and VPD surveillance systems. The goal is to enhance the detection and response to vaccine-preventable diseases, contributing to the country’s progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).


📋 Key Responsibilities

1. Strengthen VPD Surveillance Systems

  • Conduct a comprehensive review of the current VPD surveillance system.

  • Finalize and implement VPD surveillance guidelines and tools at national and provincial levels.

  • Build capacity among surveillance workforce through training and mentorship.

  • Support laboratory capacity building for multiple VPDs.

2. Support Immunization Activities

  • Develop and implement supportive supervision plans in selected provinces.

  • Assist in updating the National Immunization Policy and Handbook.

  • Facilitate microplanning for routine immunization and COVID-19 vaccination campaigns.

  • Enhance real-time data monitoring and evaluation approaches.UN Talent


🎓 Qualifications and Experience

Education:

  • Essential: Degree in medicine or advanced university degree in public health or related life sciences.UN Talent

Experience:

  • Essential: At least seven years of relevant experience in immunization programs at national and international levels.

  • Desirable: Experience with international organizations or NGOs, especially in developing countries and Pacific Island Countries.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of public health and health planning.

  • Proven capacity-building skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
