Are you passionate about sustainable development and communication? The United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (UN RCO) in Bhutan is seeking a dynamic Communications and Advocacy Intern to support its efforts in promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and engaging diverse audiences through impactful campaigns and digital content.

This remote internship offers an excellent opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain hands-on experience in communication, advocacy, and digital engagement within the UN system.

Key Responsibilities

As a Communications and Advocacy Intern, you will:

  1. Create and Manage Content
    • Develop social media posts, website updates, newsletters, and press releases.
    • Design graphics and videos to support campaigns.
    • Document events and initiatives through articles, photos, or videos.
  2. Support Campaigns
    • Assist in planning and executing communication campaigns, including webinars and panel discussions.
    • Contribute to innovative outreach strategies targeting key audiences, such as youth.
  3. Conduct Research and Monitor Media
    • Research trends in communication and advocacy.
    • Monitor media coverage and assess audience engagement on digital platforms.
  4. Engage with Partners
    • Liaise with media, influencers, and partner organizations.
    • Develop outreach materials for stakeholders, including government agencies and civil society.
  5. Provide Administrative Support
    • Maintain a content calendar and coordinate team meetings.
    • Assist with other administrative tasks as needed.

What You’ll Gain

Qualifications

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be enrolled in or have completed a graduate or final-year undergraduate program.
  • Have excellent writing and editing skills in English (knowledge of an additional UN language is a plus).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in social media platforms and tools like Canva or equivalent.
  • Show a proactive, creative, and independent attitude with strong organizational skills.

Additional Information

  • Duration: 2-6 months, with potential for extension.
  • Work Hours: Full-time, five days per week (37.5 hours).
  • Location: Remote.
  • Stipend: This is an unpaid internship, but you will receive a certificate and reference letter upon completion.
