Project Officer – Save the Children Zambia (Permanent Position)

The successful candidate will support the Better Care for Small and Sick Newborns in Zambia (BCPAP) project, implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Vayu Global Health. The initiative aims to reduce newborn mortality by improving respiratory care and strengthening healthcare services across Lusaka, Central, and Southern Provinces.
Position Overview
Job Title: Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer – BCPAP Project
Location: Lusaka, Zambia

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring high-quality monitoring, evaluation, learning, and accountability systems throughout the project.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing project MEAL plans
- Coordinating data collection, verification, analysis, and reporting
- Managing electronic databases and dashboards
- Conducting data quality audits
- Supporting surveys and programme evaluations
- Producing donor and internal reports
- Building the capacity of healthcare providers and project partners
- Documenting best practices and lessons learned
- Supporting evidence-based decision-making and adaptive programme management
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Demography, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field
- At least 5 years of MEAL experience within the NGO sector
- Experience with MEAL frameworks and logical frameworks
- Knowledge of HMIS/DHIS2 systems
- Experience using Kobo Collect, SurveyCTO, or similar digital platforms
- Skills in qualitative and quantitative research
- Experience with SPSS, Stata, NVivo, MAXQDA, ATLAS.ti, or related software
- Excellent analytical, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience working with government institutions and donors is highly desirable.
