Background & Job Description

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, administered by UNDP, is seeking a qualified Systems Support Analyst to provide technical assistance and contribute to the development of new features in UNV’s ICT platforms.

This position is home-based and designed for candidates with strong technical backgrounds in systems support, software development, and IT service management. The selected candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the availability, security, and efficiency of UNV’s IT systems and digital services, which support thousands of volunteers and staff worldwide.

The role sits within UNV’s Information and Communication Technology Section (ICTS), which oversees datacentres, applications, websites, helpdesk services, cloud infrastructure, security, and more.


Tasks

The Systems Support Analyst will undertake three main areas of responsibility:

A. Technical Support to End-Users

  • Provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 support for systems and websites via UNV’s Salesforce Service Desk.
  • Resolve or escalate complex technical issues and coordinate with vendors.
  • Ensure correct categorization of inquiries and contribute to knowledge base articles and chatbot scripts.
  • Recommend improvements based on frequent support requests.

B. Systems Development & Innovation

  • Contribute to strengthening technical standards for scalability and security.
  • Develop and maintain features across multiple stacks: Drupal (PHP), React, .NET, and SQL databases.
  • Participate in AI-driven triage, automation projects, and predictive analytics for the service desk.
  • Design monitoring dashboards to track system health and user experience.
  • Conduct testing, root-cause analysis, and technical investigations of incidents.

C. Knowledge Sharing & Capacity Building

  • Conduct training sessions on emerging technologies.
  • Maintain the ICTS knowledge base and user documentation.
  • Share lessons learned and contribute to UNV’s knowledge networks and communities of practice.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field plus 2 years of experience, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in the same areas plus 4 years of experience.

Additional certifications in software development, IT service delivery, ITIL, or quality standards (ISO 20000/9001) are desirable.

Experience

  • Proven experience in systems support, development, and user acceptance testing.
  • Hands-on knowledge of SQL databases, Drupal/PHP, React, or .NET development.
  • Experience with service desk tools and platforms such as Salesforce.
  • Background in Azure cloud services is an advantage.
  • Ability to analyse business process workflows and propose improvements.

Skills

  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Capacity to work independently in a remote, home-based setting.
  • Knowledge of data-driven decision-making, automation, and user experience design.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in English is required.
