The Education Internship supports UNICEF Namibia’s mission to improve educational outcomes by contributing to research and evidence generation on free education policy. Working under the supervision of the Education Specialist, the intern will assist with drafting reports, analyzing education financing data, and preparing policy briefs to inform national education strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct literature reviews on education financing and free education policies in Africa.
- Review and finalize Namibia’s Draft Free Education Report.
- Prepare a concise policy brief on free education for presentation to Parliament.
- Develop a PowerPoint presentation summarizing key findings for the Ministry of Education.
- Collaborate with UNICEF’s Education and Planning, Monitoring & Evaluation (PME) teams.
- Support data collection and contribute to documentation for internal reporting.
- Ensure adherence to UNICEF’s values of integrity, respect, and accountability in all tasks.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications:
- Recent graduate in economics, education, public policy, statistics, finance, or related fields.
- Strong academic performance supported by recent transcripts.
Experience:
- Demonstrated understanding of Namibia’s education system.
- Experience in education budget analysis or policy research is an asset.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint and statistical tools preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills.
- Candidates must be aged 18–35 and fluent in English (knowledge of local languages is an advantage).
