The Project Analyst (Gender) will be at the heart of this work, ensuring that all aspects of the project are gender-responsive and promote the full participation of women.


The Role: Mainstreaming Gender in Governance and Elections

As the Project Analyst (Gender), you will work under the overall guidance of the Chief Technical Advisor and in close coordination with the UNDP Gender Analyst. Your role is critical to the project’s success, as it is focused on entrenching inclusiveness principles at all levels of the electoral process.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Strategic Advice: Providing expert advice to the Bangladesh Election Commission (BEC) on international best practices, human rights standards, and legal frameworks that promote gender equity. You will also offer guidance on integrating gender issues into project design and implementation.
  • Capacity Building: Designing and delivering trainings for BEC staff and civil society organizations to build their capacity in promoting women’s participation in elections.
  • Awareness and Advocacy: Designing and implementing activities that raise awareness among stakeholders about the challenges facing women’s participation. This includes supporting media campaigns that promote peaceful elections and ensure the safety and security of women candidates and voters.
  • Data and Reporting: Collecting and analyzing data on women’s participation in the electoral process and contributing to regular project reports that reflect the full involvement and contributions of women.
  • Documentation: Supporting the documentation of women’s contributions to promoting free, fair, and peaceful elections in Bangladesh.

Salary and Contract Details

This is a full-time, on-site position in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with a fixed duration.

  • Contract Type: The position is a Short-term National Personnel Service Agreement (NPSA) at grade NPSA-8. This is a UN contract modality for professionals who are nationals of the country where the position is located. This position is for a Bangladeshi national.
  • Duration: The contract has a short-term duration of 5 months.
  • Salary: The salary for an NPSA-8 position is competitive and is based on the UNDP’s national salary scale for Bangladesh. The salary for a similar-level position in Bangladesh is estimated to be approximately $2,625 USD per month. The final offer will be based on the official UNDP pay scale.

Qualifications and Application Details

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following mandatory requirements:

  • Education: An Advanced University Degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Gender Studies, Political or Social Sciences, or a related discipline is required. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s) in the same fields will be considered if accompanied by an additional two years of qualifying experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of progressively relevant professional experience in gender equality and women’s empowerment is required. Of this, at least 2 years of practical working experience in the governance sector of Bangladesh is mandatory.
  • Languages: Fluency in both English and Bangla is required.
  • Skills: Proven experience in leading gender analysis, developing gender-sensitive policies, and experience working with a diverse range of partners, including NGOs and government institutions, is highly desired.
